is it worth it

so i have my beta in 2.5 gallon with one of those crappy filters that don't even have a sponge.
and im having trouble maintaining it because i have other tank and since its so small it gets dirty so fast would it be worth it to move the beta to a ten gallon with a hang on filter and heater.
the reason i im hesitant to do this is i already have 2 other larger tank set up in my small room and my mom hates my aquariums.
also i don't know if the shelfing unit i have will support a 10 gal is there any way to test how much weight it can hold.

How about a 5 gallon tank ?

You can get them with a filter and a heater, and it would be 1/2 the

weight of the ten gallon.

A 5 gallon is a great size for a betta......

Can you add a sponge or some filyer floss in the tank? Have you looked into small sponge filters?
I've never had a 2.5g, but I imagine it's hard to vacuum. 5g's is pretty with a small syphom.

It IS worth it to move your betta to a slightly bigger tank. You don't want him to suffer in a 2.5g and it's difficult for you to clean his tank right? I'd advise getting at least a 5g and as said above, it's 1/2 the weight of a 10g. Good luck and keep us updated!

a ten gallon will weight 80 lbs when full of water, and more if you add rocks to it. I honestly would use the 10 gallon. I had a 2 gallon for a while and hated it since it was always dirty and i could never change the water with out losing the nitrogen cycle. The 10 gallon is soooooooo much easier!

Your 2.5 should be fine. I'm thinking you are over feeding and not doing the proper amount of water changes. With or without a filter. Do you have substrate on the bottom or is it a bare bottom tank? You can get a turkey baster at the store and use that to get any leftover food and poo out of the tank. I have Betta's in 2.5 tanks with bare bottoms and don't have any problems. Just make sure your doing your water changes often and not over feeding.
