| My poor boy Clayton is coming to an end. He is not the way he used to be anymore. He is old, i can tell. His bent spine isnt helping either. He is at least 3 years old, so i am scared he may not see 2010. I just notice everyday how he is deteriorating...
All paramaters are perfect and no change at all. he gets 1 WC every 2 weeks as since his tank is so small i am afraid to throw it into a mini cycle. Ive been spoiling him lately by giving him so guppy fry... but he is just not his old self. He usually gets furious when he sees me ( i seriously dont know why but it is hilarious LOL) and whenever i put my hand in the tank he doesnt even go up to bite me anymore.
i just hope he is peaceful in his last few months |

| Thank you guys. It will be tough once he leaves, he's "the betta" the most awesome fish ive ever had. He is crazy though... he is so slow when he chases the guppy fry! he used to catch them asap but now he just blends in with the red plants and when the baby swims by he just opens his mouth and jumps LOL |

| I'm so sorry Tony.
Are you sure it's not just a change in diet (guppy fry) that's bothering him?
It's tough to watch our babies not feeling well, sending our best fishy wishes to you. |

It's hard to see them get old isn't it. I know he's lived a good long life with you and I know you'll keep him happy and comfortable right to the end... One idea on the guppy fry chasing is that he's finally figured out it's alot less work to wait for the fry to come to him |

| Thanks everyone. He's been behind his rock all day...
I guess he is just spoiled LOL
i moved his tank next to my bed so i can keep a close eye on him and have him close to me.
I can tell he's always hated me LOL he always flares at me... |

| That is heart breaking, I hate it when the bettas you love slow down, you know what's coming, you know you can't stop it, but you want to with everything in you. Tell him we're all thinking of him & that I hope he will see Christmas. This is the one thing I can't stand about bettas, losing them. |

| Awww Tony, I'm so sorry to hear that. At least he has had a wonderful life with you. 3 years is a long time for a betta. Hopefully you'll be able to keep him comfy and happy during his final days. |

| That's all that matters, if you make him happy and he made you happy. What you're going through reminds me of when I knew I would lose my Achilles. It was absolutely heartbreaking. This will be my first Christmas without my Achilles. I know it sounds silly but I keep/make Christmas stockings for all my pets and buy them a new treat or something to put in it. For the past few years I had done this with my Achilles, and this year he is gone. It will be impossible not to miss him terribly. I completely sympathise with you & My thoughts are with you both. | Tony, take solace in the fact that Clayton has experienced both love and longevity because of you.
Best wishes to you both. |

| Ya.. my little Angel has been with me almost since we started keeping fish and I figure she's about 3 now. I know how you feel, but just enjoy each day with them and know that they're happy and just living each day as it comes. They're wonderful, special little pets. |

| Awwww, Tony. You have given Clayton a long, happy life. Moving his tank next to your bed was a wonderful thing to do, and probably quite a lot of trouble for you. Clayton probably appreciates your close company. Thinking of you and Clayton.

| Thanks everyone. He is still behind his rock, just leaning onto it. Should i get a breeder net to raise him, in-case he has difficulty going up for air? The tank is 8 inches tall |
