I'm not sure about everyone else, but I have always fed my bettas every day, and they generally live for 2-3 years, sometimes longer. Well, I noticed the tops of the betta death cups in the store near where I live say to "Feed sparingly 2-3 times per week" and it made me think... how often do most of you feed your bettas?

Do you think you should only feed a betta 2-3 times a week?

Do you think you should feed a betta every day?

I feed my bettas twice a day.

I also feed my betta twice daily, two pellets each time. Give him shrimp and or blood worms once a week.

mine eat 3 times a day (gotta keep their wasteline up like MM does ) I use to fast them once a week but they broke my heart with their pouts so i had to stop LOL

Since my bettas are in a 55 gallon tank with a bunch of other fish it has become an almost constant stream of tidbits. Since most of the other fish enjoy the betta flakes I toss tiny pinches of bloodworms, flakes, and brine shrimp during the whole day. This feeding schedule is very natural and also keeps the fish hanging around the front of the tank.

I feed my bettas everyday. I find they love and look forward to meal time, if I only fed Theseus 2 -3 times a week I think he'd go crazy!
When food is a variety like bloodworms as well as pellets, I used to feed mine their bloodworms in the morning and their pellets in the early evening so they worked off their meal and had an energy boost. Mozzies are an exception treat often used for entree or dessert.

I think the reason the cup says to feed 2-3 x/week is because if you keep a betta in a small unfiltered container, the more you feed, the faster the waste builds up. I feed mine two times a day. Flakes in the morning and pellets in the evening.
