Gray Betta

I was in the pet store today and came across a betta that was gray. I was wondering if there are in fact gray colored bettas or if this particular betta was sick?

I would have taken a picture of it, but the pet stores get annoyed when I take my camera out and start flashing pictures. And yes, I am saying this from experience.

I have seen bettas that are gray before. I do believe that coloration is possible in a healthy betta. Many of the bettas labled "metalic" or "steel" often have a gray sheen to them. Did the fins look healthy? Was the betta alert and responsive? If the answer to both of these questions are yes, then most likely it was a perfectly healthy fish

I have a steel colored betta and most of the time he looks like the betta in the post above, grey/blue. But in some lights he looks completely grey.

I think there are grey bettas. I call them more of a washed out blue that makes them appear grey though. Some of my bettas that are other colours i.e. green or blue have had heads that looked greyish.
