Double tail???

I bought this beautiful boy a few weeks ago. he was labeled as a double tail but i am not sure. He has a lot more finnage than the double tails i have seen...but honestly i can't be sure. Does he look like a double tail or another type? All I am sure of is he is gorgeous! Introducing.....Triton!

He looks like a doubletail to me....Halfmoons DT's carry enormous finage (usually)

Here is my blue halfmoon DT....You can see how full a HMDT is supposed to be....

BTW, your male is very nice!

Thanks! I have been trying and will keep trying to get a pic of him flaring! He does flare, when I don't have the camera out!! Anytime I whip out the camera he swims around slowly and i can almost hear him saying "Yes. Yes I know i am beautiful"!!

Here are a few more I took while I was trying to get him to flare...still no luck. All the other male betta's I have seen will flare like crazy if you hold up a mirror...not Triton. Any suggestions?

He is definately looking better than when I rescued him from p***o, and he is still a little small. When I got him his fins were fairly ragged and his colors were much duller! I have been alternating him on betta pellets and blood worms. I have been looking and saw a few pics of dragon double tails...could this be it?

I have been going through different pictures on different websites and can't find any who have the amount and lenght of fins he has. Most of the dragon doubletails i have seen online have very full but short fins. His are very full, very long and they are split...

The Little Mermaid is one of the best Disney movies of all time. "Part of Your World" is something my daughter and I used to sing together (I still do by myself).

i have to disagree Marie. Beauty and the Beast was and will always be the best disney movei

Beauty and the Beast was good, but this particular betta looks quite noble, so I would have to say that Triton fits him better than Beast would

She did it again...ate her babies.... her name is now KD-Karma Dingo.

That's alright. Cleo didn't let me down. She's got close to 100 just waiting to into the tummys of the JD's. Of course, of someone were to want some of the babies (nudge, nudge), I'd be happy to hang onto some for them...

Thank you all!! Just out of curiosity, what kind of female would you suggest I breed him to? I am still new to betta genetics and what traits pass to the fry. I would love to breed him but don't want to make any stupid mistakes if I can help it!

Whatever you do do NOT breed him to a doubletail female...Never cross DTXDT....If you are lucky enough to find another red devil female that would be my 1st choice...Just make sure she is a single tail HM...
