RIP Aragorn

The little HM boy from Petco died earlier today.
He never grew since I got him a month ago! Has anyone else ever had this problem? I feel terrible, but I think he was ill when I got him.

I'm so sorry you lost him, Amanda When they keep them in the betta cups, these poor babies don't have any swimming space. Chances are, he was ill when you got him. You're a wonderful fish mom and I'm positive you made his life better in the short time you had him.

Yeah...he was so tiny! His body always looked sunken, I thought some good food would fix that. But I guess not.

It may have been too late for him when you brought him home, Amanda. There's no telling how long he was there or what conditions he came from. You did the best you could for him and I'm SURE he knows that.

Im sorry to hear Amanda, you gave Aragorn freedom from a cup, and Im sure his life and his passing was better for it. You did right by him, I agree with the others, he may have been genetically fragile, and aged quickly.

I'm sorry to hear about that. RIP little guy

My little blue BF Pippin that I got from MM hasn't grown at all. He's at least 5-6 months old now, and he still has a hard time with those relatively small Hikari Bio-Gold Betta pellets (just to give you an idea of how small he is). I haven't seen him grow at all (have seen his tail 'mysteriously' get shorter though, grrr)

Yes I had my first little female betta that was like that. She was ordered off of EBay and when I got her she never grew a bit through her body, her fins deepened but the body seemed very tiny always. She did not live long either and I was told that in all probability that the breeder that sold her to me was inbreeding his fish and the fish was simply not genetically sound enough to live. That does happen sometimes and it is too bad. That is why it really is always better to know the person who is responsible for creating the spawn that your fish came from. Some, like Martinismommy know what they are doing and others do not. I deal solely with people now that I have known for years for the most part and/or have references from those I trust.

I took a chance not long ago on an unknown as his fish were very reasonable but got the wrong fish when he sent it. That is what I get for not following my instincts.

I am very sorry for your loss and hope that you will be okay. I do know that it is hard to lose a betta. They wrap their little fins around your heart very quickly.
