Came home from a weekend away only to find that my male betta had passed away. What was weird is that he could've only been dead for 24 hours at most (my roomie was here watching him), since he was alive last night. He was literally falling apart when I got there, and I'm not at all sure what might have killed him.

Water parameters are good, pH is higher than normal, but I just changed the water (partial change).

I'm concerned because none of the fish he was living with are ill at all... could this be a bacterial infection?

It would mean that the other fish were probably taking nips of him after his death. He would not have decomposed that quickly. I think it could have been anything. I lost a betta quickly a couple of weeks ago. they sometimes die of old age and sometimes they die of heart failure and sometimes it is just a fluke or birth defect that is not obvious. I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard to lose them. He could also have simply died of stress of some kind.
