I guess when it rains, it pours.
I lost 3 bettas this past week, all from different tanks.
The female, Venus - went down quick, I believe she was eggbound.
One of my males, Waffles was one of the recues I got from a friend. He had gotten into 2 really bad fights before I got him, so I think that that shortened his life span. I had him for a year.
And....sadly I lost my PK boy...the one I bought as a female at Petsmart. He was my utter prde & joy and I was crushed when he passed. He held on for 3 days, but finally passed away last night.
RIP babies...I did everything I could for you.

On a happier note...I did get 2 females that were in rough shape at Petsmart. The conditons of the cups almost brough me to tears. I will post pics as soon as I take some.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

Isn't it funny how we're devestated when we lose them ... but we can't go on without saving another? We're all gluttons for punishment! We buy them (majority of them) in terrible shape/conditions ... nurse them back to health with an impossibly large amount of TLC ... only to watch them slip away from us most often due to circumstances beyond our control. What a viscious cycle.

And yet ... the time we have with them when they are healthy and/or fighting to get healthy ... surpasses any amount of pain we feel when they're gone. I haven't had a betta yet that wasn't worth the heartache in the end.

Im sorry you lost them!!. That' rough. I'm glad you were able to rescue some more though..I'll be looking forward to the pics.

I think I am a glutton for punishment...even if I only have them for a few months, I love every second that I can watch them happy in my tanks.

Aww.. I'm so sorry about you losing 3 so quickly together. It's even harder losing them so close together but I know they had a happy home with you and congrats on rescuing a couple more needing a good home.

So sorry to hear of your losses. I lost my betta boy recently too so I know how hard it is. It seems there are quite a few of us losing betta's recently also.

Like you, I rescued another Betta, and now he's settling in the main tank, I think its time to get pictures of him posted too. Good luck with your new babies!

The change of seasons is hard on all fragile life...in all health professions whether it be for pets or humans. It is always a hard time on any fish that has a problem known or unknown. Fish tend to be more likely to die at season changes I have found and a lot of times it is very unexpectedly. I am so sorry for your loss and forums do tend to hate this time of year.
