bubble wall?

Hi!!!!

i have a 10 gallon divided tank cycled. I just moved in my newest betta, Pez finnagan. this is my first time having a divided tank so BB, my male crowntail was moved from the 3 to the 10 with Pez. They were of course checking each other out through the divider. I though Pez ( young) was being a smarty and trying to provoke BB so i got a bubble wall and have it going up the divider to block there view and so forth. well Pez is all up in that bubble wall like i have never seen a betta do! he will constantly go up and down, try to swim into it, go below it, beside and the funny part is the current goes across the tank and he will swim against it, like he's excerising. Is this normal think he is happy with it as i no BB doesnt care for much current on his side.

I turn it off at night, (and I get the look from Pez..."what are you doing!!) as i do get bubbles at the top across the tank when its running and i want to make sure it dont build up to much and prevent pez from getting air..... anyone had experiences like this with thier betta

I don't have a bubble wall in my betta tank, but my betta, Dracula, likes to swim in the current the filter makes and when I do water changes, he likes to swim in the current I make.

It may be an "individual" thing. I've seen some threads here that member's bettas really don't like currents, but others do. If your water parameters are up to par and he's eating normally and showing no health issues, I'd say he's happy

Hmmm....bubble wall-GREAT IDEA!

thanks......only thing i have notice is you have to put the bubble wall suction cups onto the bottom of the tank, because they stick to the plastic divider...... and they do build up bubbles at the top ( a nice layer) but he enjoys it....... just think its odd....; )

I have a bubble wall in my divided 10g tank too. I haven't had it on much just because I don't want to overwhelm him, so I'm trying to get him used to it a few hours at a time. He'll swim all around it though and sometimes float up through them. It's really funny to watch. I'm just trying to make sure that it's not so much to stress him out, but if it ever is then I'll get something to adjust the air flow.

thats what i thought too to adjust it......i had one of those things but the air pump isnt strong enough to have an adjustment thingy... i put it on and there was no air coming out.. but they seem to like it.....i just dont like the bubble build up at the top of the tank. i am afraid he wont be able to breath if it builds up to much.....maybe i should watch him and see when it builds up how he goes to the top....; )

Yea, I'm always keeping an eye on the bubbles at the top to make sure they don't build up too. One thing I've noticed though is that my betta likes to attack the bubbles! It's so funny to watch. The first time I put this on some of the bubbles went through the divider to the girl's side and she was trying to attack them through the divider. I've since doubled up the divider to reduce stress, but now it seems he's the one that likes to do that attacking! lol

OMG that is so funny! thats a good idea on double up divider... i cant think of anythign to put in there to block there view other than decorations and i like to leave room for them to swim since pez is very active.

I did the DIY divider that Shawnie stickied to this forum. I just added another sheet of mesh to double it up, so they can still see each other, but not as well. I think they're happier now that I've done it.

i saw that, but i didnt have time to run to the store that had the supplies so i opted for LFS divider that was closer. I had to get bb out of his tank and into the 10gall as i was concerned with his fin rot i found..(another thread)......but i may have to go back and look at that and do that......Pez seems like a little instigator as he gets behind the bubble wall to watch BB........ ; ) ......

I actually had fun making it, but I actually had a hard time going back and doubling it up because it should be done with no substrate, but there was no way I was going to completely empty out the tank to do it. It's MUCH cheaper too.
I love having a divided 10g though and watching them play with the bubbles is so cute

Each of our bettas has a flexible bubble wand in their tank, they love them and some bettas have a great time playing with the bubbles.
