| Depressed tonight I love my bettas, but I sure wish they lived longer..
I lost Indy, who I had gotten in September in May, he looked 'old' and just passed away one night.
Mooshu, my guy with the tumor, died a week ago. He ate to the last day, and then one night didn't come up for food. He lived for a few months after I'd originally seen the tumor, and at least I didn't have to put him down.
Now tonight, Lupin, my Lavender gorgeous betta, is laying around. The last week I've noticed he was quieter than normal, but tonight he looks really bad. He is a huge betta almost the size of my opaline gourami, but I'd hoped he'd live longer. I've had him since November, I got him the same day I got Mooshu.
Just depressed I guess. I know they had good lives while they were here with me, and loved every minute of it. But still, it wasn't long enough. |

| I'm really sorry for how you're feeling tonight and for all of your losses. It really would be nice if they lived longer, but as long as you made them love every minute of their lives then that's all that matters. Just be the best Betta-parent you can be. I hope you feel better and good luck with your next Betta babies |

| Sorry. Not much I can help you out here. I was worried about my Eddie a few days ago.
I've felt it's unfair that these lovely, unique fish, have such a short life span... but that's Mother Nature and I won't fight her.
Wish Lupin can recover and stay around longer with you. Eddie is back being active after staying sleepy most of the day for a week or so. No idea why.

| I'm really sorry about the loss you of your beloved bettas. We get so attached, it's hard to lose them.
Is Lupin is the same tank as your gourami? You might want to move him, as gouramis and bettas shouldn't be kept in the same tank.
Incompatible tank mates can stress a betta, so that's something to keep in mind.
If he's in with other fish, you might want to consider moving him to a tank of his own.
Good luck, I hope he perks up for you. |

| Hi Lucy,
no, he's in a 10 gallon with a couple ottos.
I just went to check him this morning, and he's still alive but wobbly, swimming a little though, but mostly staying under the same plant.
We'll see. |

| Good morning Oceanrose. I know how you must be feeling with the losses you've had recently. It's tough with them having such a short life span compared to some of the other species. Is everything in check with your water chemistry? Too, we don't always know how old they are when we purchase them. The best we can do is to enjoy them while we have them and try to give them happy homes. |

We'll see. | Thanks for clarifying. Keep us informed, I hope he's feeling better soon.
I know how helpless we feel when something isn't right. |

| Lupin passed away today while I was at work.
I am sure it was age, as he was so large, but still.
I think my next bettas will come from a good breeder, and not from the store, I don't want to support the death cup industry anymore, and hopefully they'll be younger.
At least he enjoyed his food and life until just a couple days ago. He was a champion bubble nest blower too, and loved playing in his airstone bubbles. |

| Sad to hear those news... Take your time and when you're ready, look for that particular Betta that your heart tells you to bring home. He/She (I lean towards female Bettas) will have a pretty set-up tank and make easier the grieving process.
I missed my lost Bettas (Edda, The Boxer), even those I ended up giving to others to care for... So tonight I send you a supportive hug from this warm spot in the Caribbean.
My daughter would say that Lupin is already swimming with Edda in the most beautiful tank there is as her Grandpa (my dad) watches over them.

| I'm sorry you lost Lupin. Bettas have a way of getting inside our hearts, don't they?
You are in our thoughts and we send you big hugs from GA |
