Too tall for a betta tank?

http://www.jbjnanocubes.com/contents..._nano-180.html

I like this 8g tank quite a bit. However, at nearly 19" high ... I'm not sure it would be suitable for a betta to get to the top comfortably.

It wouldn't be my first choice for a betta. They do like more swim surface than depth. However, I know some members who have kept them in 5g hex tanks and they've done fine.

with extra floating plants , even if just silk ones, it would be awesome! I like it also ...

I agree that tall or floating plants would help. Its a cool tank I have also used tall wine or margarita glasses in my tanks to give the bettas a resting spot towards the top of the tank.

I have this tank. It generally wouldn't be my first pick for a betta, but I can tell you that the filtration is extremely gentle. The system pumps water up the intake tube through the spraybar, which empties onto a filter pad and other media. Then, the water flows to an area with a hole cut out so the effect is kind of like a very gentle toilet bowl, for lack of a better description. I think it could work fine if you have resting places higher up in the tank like others suggested. The lighting is sufficient for a nice low light planted tank, if you like plants.

*edit* Here is a link to my tank. I have pics of the filtration system in case you aren't familiar with it.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, Shawnie ... I thought it was a cool setup.

I also thought it was neat that two tanks could be placed back-to-back.

A tank like that can work, especially with 'ledges' along the way to the top although bettas do prefer horizontal runs.
