"Ouch" My Betta torn his tailfin yesterday

I noticed yesterday that Flicks tail is torn. I am guessing that he may have got it snagged on a decoration or got it caught in the filter. I will try to get a spong to cover the intake today. I may or may not remove his plastic plant (Although he loves the plastic plant) I am kinda hoping its the filter.

What I can do to help his fins heal? I added Stresscoat yesterday. I am wondering what I should be adding and how often.

By the way my water conditions are good 0/0/10

Good morning Lego. I think the stresscoat and keeping his water clean will be a great help. I wouldn't worry too much it should mend. Happy July 4th!

I agree with Aquarist his suggestions will help prevent infection.
You can also add a couple drops of garlic juice and Vita-chem.

Ok thanks

How often should I add the stress coat. Lucy Mentioned Vitachem and garlic guard. Should I use that as well as stress coat or instead of? Where can I get Vitachem and garlic guard? I tryed Petsmart and they didn't have it.

I've seen garlic guard and vita-chem in LFS's but I use the juice from minced garlic in a jar.
You can use all 3 (garlic, vita-chem and stress coat or fish protector)

I still don't know how often I should be using stress coat. Only will water changes or daily. I do biweekly water changes. I will look for vitachem and minced garlic tommorrow. How many drops of garlic juice and how often. How often for vitachem.

if his tear is bad, he should have 20%water changes a day with the stress coat ....if it isnt that bad, 20% with stress coat every 3 days....his vita chem can go in a couple times a week and his garlic juice(1-2 drops per gal or just soak his food in the juice) can go in once a week...

Vita-Chem and Fish Protector are great for regrowth and Garlic Guard helps prevent infection. Doing extra water changes to keep things real clean for him is the best thing.
