I purchased my 6.6G Bookshelf Tank from Petco for $39.99. I've had it for a year and I'm really impressed with it. Unfortunately, the tank is no longer available at Petco. I found it at fish.com on sale for $27.89. Shipping charges are around $10. I think it's a very good price for the tank. If somebody wants to buy it, this is the way to go.

Also I found Fish Protector 16 oz on petco.com for $7.99. I hope it is sold at Petco stores as well.

I've seen them back in at local petcos, but that price is great for the bookshelf tanks.. especially if you order a whole bunch for lots of bettas.

That's awesome -- I got mine at a Petco in May for $40 (no shipping of course) so it works out about the same if you are just getting one. I totally agree that they are fantastic betta tanks...the long and shallow style is perfect for them!

I contacted Petco customer service yesterday because I couldn't find the tank on their website. They said that the tank is no longer available at Petco and they can't even find any information about it. I am afraid it will be impossible to buy this tank pretty soon. There are not too many stores selling it. What a shame! It is one of the best tanks for bettas.

What still astonishes me is how the stores keep getting new deathtraps for bettas that i must admit look pretty cool, but get rid of the one that actually works. The newest ones are these zen themed square tanks that hold probably 24 oz of water.

Yeah, I saw those "new and improved" cups at my "reputable" fish store. Bah.

But thanks for the heads up. If I didn't have a million other things higher on my priority list I'd be all over it. I admit, it's tempting to buy on anyway since they are going to be gone soon . . .

Can anyone who has this tank confirm that an AquaClear 20/100 will fit over the plastic rim?

I'm really not impressed with the filter that it shipped with, and would like to upgrade if possible.

edit: the answer is yes, an AquaClear 20 does fit over the rim.
