| I was using it bc i had nothing to heat the tank with, i plugged it in and then unplugged it about an hour later, and so on, i had unplugged it at night cuz the water was around 78-80. So i plugged it in in the morning because it was almost below 70. and it takes about an hour to begin heating the tank. I am going to break that thing. I will go back to the store i got it from and ask them to explain to me what the heck is wrong with the thing. oh and the first time this happened to me, i had left the heater on all day and all night, si thought nothing would happen. |

| is it possible the heater was a non-submersible or partly submersible, and it was fully submerged? if that were the case, water would have gotten where it shouldn't and caused an electrical short. If this were to happen it isn't safe any more, for your fish OR for your hands.
Very sorry to hear about your fish. |

| I've never heard of that brand. Heaters are one item that I do not buy if it's a brand I haven't heard of. Heaters are crazy though.... the one that fried my sparkling gourami tank was a Visi-Therm, but I've had great success with other Visi-Therms. Weird. We use Ebo Jager, Visi-Therm Stealth, and Rena in our tanks right now. |

I use Visi-therm stealth heaters. | Same for me Lucy. Stealths are all I use. I have a 75w in my 10 gal. and a 100w in my 20 gal. long.
Tony ... very sorry for your losses. You can get Visi-Therm Stealths down to 25w for smaller setup's. There are VERY FEW heaters I trust for this very reason. Not that things couldn't happen with a Stealth ... but we seem to RARELY here about negative incidents such as yours when using Stealths.
Don't beat yourself up ... simply learn the lesson. Equipment found to be faulty should be immediately removed and either returned when possible, or thrown away.
RIP: Flo, Shelly, and Tommy |

| Petmountain has the best price for the stealth, from what I've seen. Even with shipping it's less than petsmart. (link is at the top of the page). |

| I will add one thing..
Bigger is better when talking tank equipment.. Never enough watts. Try going up 1 level on the heater.. It means the heater will have to work less to regulate the aquarium temp and should last longer... |
