What are the dots called?

I have seen a few bettas lately with dots on their fins. I have attached 2 pictures to show what I meant. Is there a special term for these dots? Why do some bettas have them?

Its just a color pattern and I think it is really pretty. Usually bettas with spots are referred to as dalmations. Have you been shopping on aquabid Those are some gorgeous fish!

Lol I got those pictures from Aquabid. I was just curious of the dots/spots on their fins. They look amazing, a little like spots from a leopard hence I wonder if there is a special term for them.

I also notice a lot of the blue bettas have the dots and I haven't seen any other colour bettas have spots yet. Wonder why...genetic?

The dots are called a dalmation pattern....It is genetic....I've seen it on Bettas of all different colors....Although it can be pretty, it is not really what I want on my show fish....
