| Meet my new boy Kawaii I posted a thread about my new boy earlier, but now that he has a name I thought I should give him a propper introduction He is a blue steel plakat boy with a black stripe that goes from his nose down his back. He is very sweet and mild mannered. I haven't seen him flare once, but he always greets me at the front of the tank and accepted food as soon as I got him home. I named him Kawaii because it is Japanese for pretty, cute, charming, and darling. I thought it suited him |

| Such a ...cute... name for such a distinguished fish. Little Kawaii is going to have a lot to prove to the other tanks.
A very wonderful fish. I like the plants, too. |

| Great looking betta, looks like he loves his beautiful new home.
p.s. do we call the male betta boys until they become fathers? no I'm not kidding just new to the bettas, thanks.

| They are generally called boys even after they are fathers (at least around here).
They are kind of childish; bullying anything that comes on their playground, extremely greedy for any amount of food you give them, and huge attention hogs. |

Dave | I've never thought about it. Maybe we should ask MM when she gets back from Cali, if she refers to her males that she breeds as men....
Thanks for the kind words by the way Quote:

B | Thanks Beth The black stripe is what caught my eye in the store. He's not much of a devil though. Very mild mannered for a betta. Quote:

A very wonderful fish. I like the plants, too. | Seeing as all my other boys are named after muppets (Kermit, Gonzo, and Fozzie) I think he'll fit right in Thanks so much for the kind words. The plants are just some clippings I stole from my other tanks. They are just kind of randomly arranged in there right now, but he seems to like them Quote:

But yes, Kawaii-kun shouldn't have too many problems... unless Kermit starts playing "near/far" with the side of his tank. |

| Thanks Pink He is my first Plakat, and I am really loving him. He has so much personality and IMO is just as stunning as my fancy tailed boys, plus there is the added bonus of less tail maininance |

Maybe I'll have to get a little girl to pair him up with.... oh wait, I have like 8 I wish I had time right now, but betta breeding is gonna have to wait a while. |
