Divider or New Tank?

Ok... so i have my 10g with my betta tommy, and i was at my LFS the other day, and i saw this REALLY BEAUTIFUL BETTA!!
i loved him... so i decided to get him...
I have a divider, the problem is that its clear...
i've read they can jump the divider when they see each other.
now..
i could get another tank, a smaller one about 5g to 2.5
the problem is that it would take longer for me to get them and to tell you the truth i dont believe this guy will last long at the store, he's really amazing, so i neeed help asap...

p.S. i havent gotten him yet but i will tomorrow...

Well, you could put a plant or two beside the divider, in order to seperate. Then you can have more time to get another tank if that's what you decide to do.

If your 10 is cycled you could seed a new tank with a peice of used filter media and a handful of gravel from your established tank.

If you did that, you could get the betta, keep an eye on the parameters, I've cycled tanks almost instantly that way.

personally i think divided tanks can be a real pain. i had my 10 gallon divided for two of my bettas for all of about three days before i got tired of it. the divider just wasn't working for me. it really needed to be siliconed for the tank but 1. i didn't have any silicone and 2. i couldn't leave the tank dry long enough to do it. i'd definitely suggest picking up a 5 gallon kit, a heater, and some decorations if it's not too much trouble for you and save yourself the hassle you can cycle it very quickly (within a couple days) if you cut a piece of filter media from your 10 gallon and put it in the filter for the five gallon
