betta moving question :)

I am planning on rehoming my bettas in my freshly vacated spare room. My mother in law has been living in there for the past 6 months, and our friend for the 6 months before that, and I finally have my room to put MY stuff, and my beautiful bettas. I am also hoping I can teach my sister how to take really good care of them while she is here over the summer and then I might consider getting one from Karen for her.

But anyways, what is the best way to move them? Should I put them in something and move the tank, and then them, or leave them in the tank, but be as gentle as possible when carrying it? I have 5gal hex tanks, and I was going to take about 50% of the water out and move them during their weekly water change. Any suggestions? I want to do this as painlessly as possible for them! Plus, this room happens to be the coldest in the house, and we live in phoenix AZ, and I am worried about the tanks getting too hot, so hopefully that will help! Chewbie loses about .5 gal a week in her tank!

Thanks all! I will put pictures of their new location when I get them. They are going to have a nice set up.

Next step, a QT tank... Finally have room!!! SOOOOO EXCITED!

I would put them in a container then do the water change and move them..then replace them...I move my tanks all the time and I feel its best to have them out so they dont bang around in the tank ...

im in the process of loosing my fish room so congrats to you!!!! get pics for us

Oh man! When I read you were planning on re-homing your beauties I started looking for a free tank lol......

I do as Shawnie suggests...I take them out during the move....It's just easier.....

Good luck with the move and let me know when you are ready for sissys betta...I have some NICE ones growing out right now....

I will let you know... She will be in Hawaii for two weeks (JEALOUS) and then I have to convince Denis to let me buy her a tank, and also convince her dad to LET her have a tank... It is just in the hoping stage right now, but she loves the fishies, so maybe sometime soon!

OH
and if I ever need to rehome them, I will e-mail you first Karen. Don't worry! But I really doubt that would ever happen. I don't take in critters I don't plan on keeping until their long and happy lives end.
