water question

Morning! Happy mothers day to all!!

Curious about something. Is spring water that you can buy from the store safe for fish? I was wondering since it has not had the chlorine added to it.

TIA!

its not harmful but it does lack some nutrients or minerals that other was has I think..im not positive tho...using water conditioner is a good option and if you use stress coat+, it also helps replenish slime coat that most fish have ...happy mothers day to you also!!

I've used some spring water from time to time. You need to check the pH levels of it because it will differ from your tap water. Same for distilled.

i think it's both

it'll be cheaper and less stressful on you in the long run to just use tap water with a good conditioner, or if you have extremely hard water or something like that to buy an RO unit to mix that with your tap water rather than having to buy gallons of spring water each week

In the long run, it would probably be cheaper to use tap water with a water conditioner. I'm not sure if spring water or conditioned tap water has benefits for fish the other doesn't have. Plus, just think of all that plastic that's used to bottle spring water, all the fuel that's used to ship it, etc. You'll have to buy less conditioner less often, so it'll use those resources, but less so than bottled water will.

Hard to say, Test it with your test kit. Do you know is has no chlorine ? I don't think there is a standard for "spring water".Call the company that makes it and ask them. Distilled is good to mix with hard water or to top off due to evaporation.

I mainly got it for the jug so I can use it to fill my other tanks with tap water. I wanted a jug that I knew didn't have anything else it besides water. I was curious about the gallon of spring water or drinking it.

thanks everyone!
