| The BEST fish delivery I've ever received! I had one of my show females go out with my shipment on Tues.. A guy won her on E-bay....To make a long story short, he was not home for the delivery and never picked her up at the PO....I have been on the phone with the PO in CA since Wed. trying to decide what to do....I had to act quick with this being the weekend...I was so afraid she was going to die in the box....I have sent the guy 10 E-mails and no reply at all! He paid good money for her and also paid for express shipping...I'm not sure what happened but the mailman just made a delivery back to my door with my little girl....She is now out of the box and back in her tank....She surived without food and in a small baggy since Tues morning....
This is going to change how I do things from here on out.....I refuse to ship without phone contact the day of shipping.....I have been sick to my stomach for 3 solid days.....
Here's my baby girl.....Not sure what to do about refunding the guys money...I did everything I promised to do....Input will be appreciated... Last edited by Martinismommy; May 8th, 2009 at 04:01 PM.

| Wow, that is crazy! I'm sorry that happened to you! As for input, I think you should just send her to me instead lol.
You did everything you said you would, so at very least the shipping should not be refunded, as you gave clear warning that he had to be home when the mailman comes. Maybe just refund the price of the actual fish? |

| I am so glad she is okay! You must have used kordan bags. Personally I would only give him his money back for the fish minus any extra shipping you had to pay to get her back. And I agree on the phone contact.
How could he do that? I sit here like a crazy lady when I know I have a shipment coming in. He must have had a major emergency. |

| Well, things happen. I mean, it's easy to immediatly crucify someone - but I can think of thousands of bad situations I would be in where a fish being delivered to me would be the LAST thing on my mind (i.e. car wreck, friends or family in some kind of trouble, etc) |

| No one is crucifying him..lol,,,
I agree with the other posters. Refund him the cost of the betta minus shipping cost paid to get her back to you. That would be fair. The phone contact is a great idea too. Just to make sure they remember the betta is coming and if something does come up you can hold shipment. I'm soo happy she is well and healthy. I hope the guy is ok as well. |

| Whoops. I came off a bit harsh on the post. I didn't mean to say anyone here was crucifying the guy - that was just MY initial reaction before I calmed down and thought about it
But yeah. Business is business. The guy should get refunded his money, minus the shipping costs both ways. It's not your fault that he couldn't take delivery. |

| Wow - I really want one of MM's bettas. Can't afford it though.
BUT I am thinking about getting a halfmoon male from a LFS about an hour away. They are the only store I've ever seen carrying halfmoons! |

| I am so glad to hear that she is okay! She is such a beauty She was sitting at a PO in CA....I would have been more that happy to pick her up lol. I am sure she will find another wonderful home asap.
I hope the guy is okay. I was supposed to buy something off of craigslist and ended up having a family emergency that day. When I got back on my email a few days later I had a bunch of really mean emails from the guy I was supposed to be buying from. I was so insulted, because he had no idea what was going on in my life. I hope that the guy who was supposed to adopt her is alright. Hopefully he'll contact you soon. Last edited by MissMTS; May 8th, 2009 at 07:12 PM.

| When there is a DOA, many sellers refund the price of the dead fish but not the shipping. I would just treat it the same way. :/
If he has a decent reason, that is. If he never contacts you or doesn't care, I would only refund the price of the fish if he asks for it. Still no shipping refund. |

| What an incredible female, and I'm glad she made it back to you!
No shipping refund, no matter the guy's circumstances. You spent out-of-pocket money on that. Did the P.O. charge you for return shipping? Did some compassionate person at the P.O. notice the box was unclaimed and that it was marked "Live Fish" (or similar)? It'll be interesting to know what happened if you ever find out.
As far as refunding the guy's money for the fish, I think you should refund it minus return shipping (if applicable). Sounds most likely he had an emergency. Or in the event he simply doesn't respect life enough to pick her up in a timely manner, he would also be callous enough to post negative feedback and put a mar on your stellar reputation even though you did everything right. |
