lump on his tail...

I've had my betta fish Ziggy for a few months now...like, dince before christmas, and he's always been perfectly healthy apart from a few minor fin tears which have stopped happening now, but since i bought him i noticed a small lump on his tail...

The lump is right in the middle of his tail, near where the body and tail are connected. It was there when i bought him, but i didn't see it, until i got home. It has never grown or changed shape in any way, i'm just worried it might be a health problem, like a tuma...

I havn't asked about it, because it hasn't grown and doesn't seem to cause him any pain, or stop him swimming properly, but i'm a bit curious as to what it is? Its also a bit unsightly and subtracts from his beautiful appearance slightly (although, i'd never trade him for another betta, Ziggy is awesome!)..

What is this wierd lump, and should i do something about it?

if hes acting normal , eating, swimming, and just an all around happy man, dont worry about it...the way these fish are treated, and the way they are bred, it could be a birth defect.....I would just keep him happy with clean water and a great diet...

Ok, thanks shawnie, i was a little worried! But as you've said, he's eating, pooping, swimming and playing like any betta. He's still a beautiful boy =D
