Do betta boys start having more fin issues as they get older?

I'm curious since it seems like Coolie's tearing his fins more, and they're taking long and longer to heal up...

My old man has very raggedy looking fins, I think it may be age.

My poor baby... I may have call him old man not to his face of course rofl

I'm getting irritated though since I have no idea what he could possibly be ripping his fins on!

aw i'm sorry to hear that it's definitely possible, how old is he?

I got him in... July of 08 from PetSmart. I have no idea how old that would make him.

My King was a very sged Betta ..he lost body & fin color and looked very raggedy at the end... I'm sorry Red.

I don't think that he's on deaths door yet guys.
Just noticing that he needs a bit more TLC then he used to.

My longest lived betta lived 3 years after I got him and at the end his head turned grayish (funny), he was dark blue. I don't remember any fin issues though. Is there anything else to suggest he may be ill in any way?

I put a big broad leaf silk plant when King stared slowing down and he would lounge on it..older Bettas like to lounge around....

My older betta doesn't really swim much at all, he mostly lays on the gravel. He only swims up to grab the food.

No he's acting normal ect. However I did move him to the apartment so that could be a stressor. (Sure stressed Ozzi RIP)
He's acting fine and his tails still growing back but I was just noticing how he seems to be tearing his fins more but there's nothing in the tank to tear then on.

my rafikki, other than his puppy dog licking days, had amazing fins until he passed...although i did have to put him in a smaller tank with less flow the older he got...seems they struggle more as they get older...but his finnage was amazing at 3 years young!

try a big leaf plant.. .. I was afraid that laying down on the gravel would tear up King's fins.. he liked lying on the leaves up close to the top and the silk plant leaves were really soft...like a Betta couch.
