Quint can't keep a meal down!! :(

Ever since I got him, Quint can't keep down the betta pellets I give him. Mango and Kairi take them willingly, and then beg for more, but Quint regurgitates the pellet, and then whatever is left in his stomach. This can't possibly be good for him. Could he be adjusting to a new food? I feed Wardley pellets and I believe my LFS fed him Hikari betta pellets. (which I here are the best, I must find out myself)

So what can I do for him?

Are they too big for him? Does he do that with any food or just the pellet?

maybe try atisons pellets? they're a lot smaller than the others. also, i'd try feeding him frozen bloodworms and see if he can keep those down.

I tried feeding him freeze dried blood worms today, but he only took one out of the three I offered. They were small worms too. For the pellets, I feed him the smallest pellets because he is a younger betta, but he doesn't seem to like them.

i'd definitely try the frozen, freeze dried can constipate them pretty easily, if you don't have access to the frozen then you can try soaking the freeze dried in garlic guard and vitachem

You could try switching to Hikari since that's what he was used to at the store...maybe he just doens't like the change. Hikari is better anyway.

maybe I will do that too. just gotta wait till my next trip downtown.

Well, probably my biggest question is why is he regurgitating?

He might be just being stubborn with you and you are "in training." He might like the Hikari pellets because that is what he knows. Have you ever given him any treats such as bloodworms or brine shrimp, and if so, did he eat them eagerly? If so, you're definitely being trained by a fish.

Some bettas will appear to start to eat, chew, then spit out the food they don't favor. It's not really regurgitation. If they're healthy, they're just trying to train you to keep up the favorite treats. Keep at it with known nutritious food, and if he's hungry enough, and if he's not ill, he will eat the pellets.

I hope he's not sick, and just being a picky betta.

I hope that too. Maybe if my parents are feeling oddly sympathetic towards my wet pets tomorrow, i could persuade them for a trip to my LFS for some new fresh, healthy betta goodies. besides, i did help rake ALL of our newly de-thatched grass today, and our ard is pretty big. On top of that, I suffered from an accute allergy attack. I'll just have to butter up the folks
