Guilt is powerful...

So I was petsmart Friday afternoon and rescued poor tank. So I was back there yesterday (still needed Mer's meds). So I was checking things out and of course I was strolling.
Now the betta's on friday had been active and vibrant. 2 days later... I was seeing more then a few dead and fin rot was running rapant. The active Betta's were now lathargic and barely moving.

When I'd been there on Friday there was a little steel blue Ct that had caught my eye but I hadn't been there for a Betta and I figured that he was such a pretty sweet boy that someone would take him home. But he was still there! He was pale and huddled in misery at the bottom of his cup. This poor little baby that I had passed over and taken Tank home instead...
Well now he's settling in nicely in one of my 2.5's.
I'm such a sucker and I swear this is the last one! (famous last words)... Let me clarify, this is the last one until after I get back from Ireland.

Any names?

Aw, he's so cute You're such a softie!

When I go to Petsmart (or any of the others) I try not to look...don't see, can't buy...kind of like I don't look at the kittens either (three's my limit on those).

I'd call him Damon. No particular reason.

Methylene blue - prevents parasites (or at least prevents the stuff we can see). The LFS I'd been buying from told me they add it to 'all' their tanks, it's just those awful little cups where you can see the water turn blue. It's the same stuff used to 'fix' organic material on microscope slides! Most every time I've bought a fish swimming in that stuff, they've shown some degree of parasitism in the first few days they're in clean water. I find that NOT further medicating them is the fastest way to get them healthy again.

Poor little guy, I'm so glad you got him. Being a sucker really isn't so bad...you're in good company . My 18 yr old daughter had to get me out of Walmart before I made a fool of myself 'cause I saw so many dead/dying in their cups I started crying! That was a little pathetic even by my standards. You'd think by now I'd know better than to even look, but I always have that hope that I can find one that isn't so far gone I can take him home.

I usually take the ones in the worst condition... if they're happy and spunky I'll know that they can still catch someone elses eye... It's the boys who've given up and who's fins are almost gone that I just can't walk away from.

Went betta shopping with my friend Megan didn't bring anyone home with me but she took a lucky red multi color VT home with her. He's been christianed Enricho (sp?).
