I'm wondering how much I should be feeding Mango and my new female betta. Are bettas one of those piggy fish who will eat until they "pop"? :-p

I'm feeding them flake food specially formulated for bettas. Should I feed them until they won't eat any more? That's not what I have been doing. How much should I be giving them?

Yep, Bettas will always make you think they're starving.
I feed mine 4-5 pellets in the morning and about 4-5 blood worms at night.

I feed pellets. I alternate between HBH Betta Bites (4 pellets) and Hikari Gold betta pellets (3 pellets). I split the difference based on what the packaging recommends (as an example the HBH says feed 3-5 pellets, so I go with 4).

I feed twice a day. I drop one in at a time, and toss another in when he's done eating the previous one. Makes it fun

Like most fish they'll eat until they pop.

I feed mine one moderate sized flake or a couple smaller flakes twice a day. A couple of dried bloodworms or a tiny pinch of daphnia is sometimes fed in place of flakes at my house.

You should never feed them until they stop eating. They will eat until they make themselves sick.

I second what Lucy said.

My own betta will eat anything that's not nailed down (or try to). He also begs every minute of the day he's not sleeping; and that's with 2 meals a day with treats a couple times a week. If there' random debris in the tank he tries to eat it. After I managed to kill my java moss and took it out, there were a couple tiny pieces of it I had to fish out. He of course thought it was a snack, and gave it a taste.. at which point he promptly spit it out.

I've read bettas can be picky eaters. In my very limited experience I haven't had that problem. I'm quite grateful, having had that problem before....

my adult bettas get either six atisons pellets twice a day or four hikari pellets twice a day, and my babies get four atisons pellets twice a day. about once a week they get frozen bloodworms (sometimes more often than that), and if i'm in a particularly good mood they get frozen brine shrimp it's also good to give a piece of de-shelled pea about once a week to keep them from getting bloated

I agree with Lucy. I would put two Hikari betta pellets.
