Bubble nest

Wow, we've had our betta two weeks and he build a huge bubble nest! Our other betta never built one in the several months he was with us.

I wonder if the blackwater extract I've been adding to the tank is working that well. I was just really surprised to see it.....

Warm weather seems to trigger bubble nesting....My house is a giant bubble bath right now with our 90 degree weather!

This my be a dumb question, but....
How do they know the season, or temp outside of their tank, if they are in a heated tank, that stays the same temp? I'm so intrigued by these little wonders, I know a betta is in my future

The tank will warm up if it's something like 90*F outside. The heaters usually will turn-off by themselves to prevent over heating. So the tank water will slightly increase.

I even got a picture of it (and him), it's in the gallery. I'm lousy at taking fish pictures so it's doubly amazing it's actually in focus.
