Now or wait?

I am going to my LFS tomorrow or friday and know i will be very very tempted to buy my first betta. i have a spare 20g that i think he would love and will start cycling (if i decide to get him) with old filter media and sand from my 65 gallon, so it wont take long.

Will he be ok in a container inside my 65 gallon tank that i have used to isolate certain fish. It is around 2 gallons.

here it is when i was isolating my guppies
Click the image to open in full size.

Im guessing all the responses will be "wait untill the 20g is cycled" but im looking for a thin ray hope

Thanks
Jack

A betta would love a 20g!!!
I say, if you see a betta you can't leave without, then don't leave without him!
I'd feel fine keeping a betta in the 2g container for a week or so, and I'd just exchange the water in there for tank water a few times a day, and I think he'd be happy! And much better off than if he was in the little cups at the store.

He will be just fine in the container hanging in the heated tank....Just remember to change the water on the container every other day....

Wow ;o a whole 20gal to himself!!!
The poor little guy won't know what to do with himself!
One thing to keep in mind is that he may have a bit of trouble swimming in it till he gets his swimming muscles developed again. So have a place near the surface where he can rest at the beginning!
I second Pink buy the way.
