| Well Alex, you sure don't have to worry about your kids being kept like that lol....But you may pass out when you see how I have to ship them......Just so you are prepared, this is what they come in..It is for their safety trust me...Shipping can be a rocky road from AZ to Virginia! |

| Oh, the poor, poor things! Imagine if you were kept in a room where you could barely turn around, just because it was easier to feed you and you didn't eat as much! This doubles my resolve to get my sister a beta as a surprise for her birthday! And yes, he (or she) will actually be living in *gasp* a 5 gallon TANK with a filter and heater. |

| Hey Mike, it's crazy you post that. That shop is actually located here in the city I live in. I go there quite often and they seem to take pretty decent care of their bettas.
Unfortunately, that is how they are shipped. I recently received a betta from Thailand. It was sent with express mail. They provide heating pads to keep them warm, and the breeder supplied a small piece of almond leaf in the bag. Which helps relieve stress, helps heal, and makes the betta happier.
I was just in that shop about three days ago and they must not of had a shipment come in recently. I did notice that they had quarantined about fifteen of their betta bowls.. Treating them for illnesses.. Sad, the question is, are those small bowls... That healthy? Personal preference in my opinion. I put my betta I just received in a 1.5 gallon tank, with a heater, java ferns, almond leaf, and feeding him live black worms... He's made a bubble nest the size of half the top of the tank only after being home for two days... I'd say that's being happy. =) |

| I'll agree with you there Pink, that site is disgusting. I just took a quick look through a few different species. Most of the info is wrong, the pictures are sick and the fish look like they're being kept in filthy conditions! |

the only time any of my bettas ever seemed "lost" in a bigger tank was when i put ares into a 10 gallon that had a filter rated for 20 gallons. i had anticipated needing the extra filtration but i actually didnt, but the flow rate was just too strong for him so i took him back out but i put him back into his 5 gallon.....i just can't understand why people would think that that's okay!!!!! doesn't anyone have to common sense to think....hmm, you know what, that bowl is less than 2 times the size of my betta....maybe he'd like to swim around a little |

| It is best to ship them snug, but they have to be shipped FAST and fasted 24 hours before shipping! The more water they have, the more they'll be thrown around during shipping. When the transhipper here gets shipments in, they look like Martinismommy's pic.
There are some who'll ship bettas and other fish using tranquilizers and sponges or towels like that. To me, that's someone that never deserves any business from anyone. Last edited by COBettaCouple; February 2nd, 2009 at 09:01 PM.
