| I have several Betta tanks. Since I live in the Caribbean I don't use heaters, except when I need to. Through the slightly hot days of summer, tank temp (2.5, 3.5, 5.5, 10 gal) stays a bit over the recommended upper range (80-82F) due to the well ventilated room, away from sunlight I keep them in. In the slightly cooler days of winter, temp is ideal for them (78-80F).
However I use a heater to treat/prevent ick in new-coming, stressed from long shipment fish, as right now in my Betta sorority tank, where I keep temp in the 81-82F range for two or three weeks.
