Since yesterday my betta has stopped swimming around in his tank. He just floats at the surface not doing anything. His appetite is fine and he shows no other signs of being sick. What could be wrong with him?

I was thinking water parameters as the first step, too. Do you have a liquid test kit, preferably API? The strips are not accurate.

Also, what's the water temperature?

yeah api makes a great freshwater testing kit, i would go with that too.

False alarm!!
There was a plant that I took out of his tank when I changed his water yesterday and I had forgotten to put it back in. This afternoon I put the plant back into the tank and he started swimming around like he was the happiest fish in the world. I guess he just missed his friend the plant lol!! Isn't that cute?
