Please Help My Frost :(
I just did a water change sunday and the parimiters were as follows:
ph 7.6
nitrite 0
amonia 0
nitrate 10
temp 78
I don't know what would cause this, he looks like he has a huge chunk out of his little head
What is it and how do I treat it?

I'm not good with diseases, but that may have just been an injury from running into something.
The best help I can give you is well wishes and prayers for little Frost.

I wonder also if Frost may have run into something that caused this injury. You can try adding some fish protector to help in the healing of superficial wounds. I hope that is all it is...

A note, if you haven't seen it before, do not use MelaFix, PimaFix, or BettaFix for this kind of thing, even though their labels suggest use for injuries of this sort. The stuff is toxic to bettas (yes, even BettaFix, which upsets me to no end).
If you already knew that, then disregard this message. I always feel it better to give reminders about this stuff rather than risk someone finding out the hard way.

I have had 2 betta get a white spot on there heads that looks like what you have shown in the pic...on mine it looked like a spot of missing scales and it was not raised or very deep...not like a big crater. I decided to wait and see if it worsened and not to treat unless it did. These happened at different times and my fish are not in a divided tank...rather they are each in there own 5 gallons. They both have silk plants and really not anything they could of scraped against. It cleared up on it's own in 2-3 days without treatment. If this is the same I would just wait a day or so with clean water and see what happens. ( I do not trust most meds as I have lost more fish treating them that if I left them alone...lol...good thing I didn't become a nurse).

He is a pretty guy... Thatlooks like a wound.. It also looks like Hole In The Head Disease but It is very uncommon but not impossible for Bettas to get this disease...Do you feed him alot of live food?
Keep the Temp up a bit...maybe 80 degrees, Do a 20% water change every other day, and use your water dechlorinator with each water change, keep the water really clean, check your perameters.I would not recomend you use any mediacations at all.. keep an eye on him ...see if that starts healing up.
Good Luck with Frost!

Thanks everyone
I did recently change his plants from the 3 pack silk flowery type you find at walmart to the plastic amazon swords all the rest of mine have (ocd yeah you know me) anyway I always use stress coat and prime with every water change as well as garlic guard,he has flat marbles as his substrate and 1 plant and a glass (smooth)candle holder thingy that he likes to go in a lot a little empty at the moment but he doesn't seem to mind,
I've always thought his mouth was a little odd if you look at the pic close let me know what you think?I think his eyes are OK it might just be the angle of the pic
Thanks for all the input everyone, this little guy is my grandsons (student of the year)He comes today and I want to make him better asap
So I guess maybe step up the water changes a bit and keep an eye on him for now...I don't really like to use meds unless absolutly needed.

The canvas is just a background... I find most backgrounds are to busy for me, and I like my tanks to blend in with my decore (yeah ocd you know me )I love my marbles thank you.
