New betta tank!!
I just got my betta tank!!
Its a 5g bow front tank its wicked cool iv got an established filter running in it. Its at 24 C and I will be putting established gravel in it!
I'll give it a couple weeks then test it, after that i will go to the fish shop!
When I was at the fish shop getting the tank I spotted the most awsome looking red crowntail betta ! I was like man if only my tank was cycled!! aaahhh

That great! You can put the fish in when you put the established filter and gravel in.
Don't forget the pics!

Yep, just keep your eye on your water parameters for a while, if you have any readings of ammonia do a water change.
The established media and gravel already contain the bacteria your tank needs to process the ammonia from your fish.

Your welcome, I've cycled a few of my tanks that way. Only 1 showed ammonia readings after a few days. A couple of water changes corrected that.
Sometimes the amount of bacteria you have needs time to catch up to the bio load.
Now about that 'most awsome looking red crowntail betta'
Go get that baby. lol

It says on the betta profile that the temp is between 21-29 C what would be the optimal temp within that range? thanks

Now back to that gravel thing lol im thinking of taking gravel out of my 65g coz there is way to much in there, its quite small like fineish and put about just under an inch ov it in then a layer of smooth pebbles or marbles over it coz i want it to be a planted tank.. did that all make sense?
but the problem is the 65g just got over ich last week im just wandering if it will make the betta sick?
its been gravel vacumed 2 times since

If your sure you're completely over it, it would be ok. The spores can live in the gravel. How did you get rid of the ich?

well i raised the temp to 29-30 C for about two weeks it did nothing and the ich got worse and started breaking down there fins, so im ashamed to say it but i didnt want to lose my cute severums so i used medicine(chemicals ) it wiped out the white spot in 2 days!

No need to be ashamed that you had to use meds.
Is this the same tank that you wanted to take the established media from?

I'm kinda paranoid about those kinds of things. I'd be worried that the used media still held some meds in it.
Personally, this is probably what I'd do. If you used carbon to filter the meds out of the water, You can run the new filter from the mini bow in your 65g for 2 weeks or put the new media in the 65g and leave it there for at least 2 weeks to seed.
It really might be ok, but like I said, I'm paranoid about those kinds of things.
