i think my betta has internal parasites

I'm new to fish keeping and I have been asking tons of questions. I was originally worried about a white spot on my Betta's head but after showing pics to others they alarmed me to the size of my Betta's belly. It is very large. It has been this way for a long long time. She has always been happy and swimming around and eating well. She has no trouble swimming. But she does have clear poop mixed with normal poop. I have been told this was possibly worms. At first i didn't believe it I was in denial but now i do. I think i see a small clear worm coming out. I'm not to sure as she never stays still and her underside fins are always in the way. I ordered medicated fish food and it should be here in the morning.

I'm worried that this may kill her. I'm soo attached to her. What experiences has anyone had with internal parasites? What can I expect and what can I do for her?

Thanks so much

Are you sure it's not her ovapositor? It looks like a little white spot on the underside of her, it means she's reaching maturity.

I thought the same thing when Prissy reached 'that age'

No Lucy I'm sure that's not it. I have seen her white spot there . this is something very different.

Thank you

Oh, I'm sorry, I was hoping it was something that simple.

I've never had to deal with parasites (yet). Hopefully someone will see this and share their experience with you.

Let us know how she does with the medicated food.

Good luck.

capekate I ordered medicated fish food by jungle labs. I went to check the order and I ordered the wrong thing. It was the bacterial food and not the internal parasite food. So I'm heading to petsmart today to get the correct kind. Sometimes I feel like such an idiot I can't seem to do the right thing lately. Anyway I hope it helps her.
Thanks so much

Hi Dinatwin I would suggest, since you are going to Petsmart to pick up a pack of the Jungle Lab, Parasite Clear. These are fizz tabs that you add to the water. Along with the medicated food, you can fight the parasites more effectively. I have a cabinet full of meds that I have got from time to time, mistaken an ailment for another. You may as well just hold on to the med food for bacterial infections, you never know if/when you may need it.
Good luck and please keep us posted..

My fish won't eat the Jungle Labs medicated food. Try soaking it in bloodworm juice or something they like to eat. Mine fish are too spolied to eat it.
