All I want to know is could I keep a male betta with 4 dwarf neon rainbows?

Some bettas will tolerate tank mates. Personally, I wouldn't take the chance.

If you decide to keep them together, make sure you keep a close eye on them, watch for signs of aggression and have an alternate plan should things not work out.

ok thanks.. yea if things dont go to plan then ill put the rainbows in a diffrent tank and let the betta have his own 10g

I wouldn't chance it in a 10g. (Heck, I wouldn't chance it at all. lol)

From what I've read, if a community tank with a betta is going to work at all, it's recommended to have a much larger tank.

i will take your advice though i wouldnt want to risk any fish or the betta getting all messed up!

il just buy him his own tank..

I'm really happy to hear that!
Some members keep theirs in 2.5 and they do great, I like to recommend at least a 5g. I have mine in a 10g.

He'll be so much happier in his own domain, and you don't have to worry that you'd wake up and find someone hurt or killed.

Good luck! I think however that it's just fair to warn you that you won't be able to stop with just 1 betta (if you're not already aware). lol.

oh no!! haha i dont mind having lots of fish but my dad might with the power bill!!

Your liking one and he/she doesn't like you (or the reverse) is not going to happen! There will be an instant connection. You'll know it when you see it.

Brace yourself for not getting more than one and resist the urge. Think of the equipment you have at home to properly take care of your new friend, and you can't take care of more than one properly right now!

Yay for you, getting the five-gallon tank, and to your dad for knowing how much this means to you!
