Where can I find Betta Plakats. I love the look of this fish and would like to purchase them, but finding them in pet stores is not easy. I have been looking on line, but can't seem to find anything worth looking into. Any help would be appreciated.

did you look at aquabid, that would proubably be your best bet to find one you truly love

Yeah, I looked at that, but I don't like bidding. It makes the price unrealistic for a fish. I was looking for a breeder who sells them plentiful enough to make one price that is reasonable. Thanks anyway.

Many of the Aquabid auctions have a "Buy it Now" price, where if you just agree to the asking price, you can buy it without any bidding. Also, although I haven't spent a lot of time on Aquabid, it seems most Betta's sell for the minimum bid price.

Plakats are pretty popular right now. HM plakats are reaallly nice. The prices you see on AB is probably what you are going to pay even with a local breeder. Giant plakats can go for $300. Yikes! I would ask around locally or see if your local fish store will bring some in their next order.

im with allie...ask your local pet store to order some and they probably will...I got my boy at ace hardware LOL ..was a dilema as I thought he was a she!

yeah i totaly understand, i could just have my lfs owner order me fish in from his suppliers cheaper then the price i would pay, i just cant see paying that much for shiping, but i still like to look to see whats out there, mostly for fun, bettas are normaly diamonds in the rough, you normlay find a few that managed to not get to beat up during shiping, in the torcher cups

As far as shipping costs go please do not blame the breeder or vendor. Those are set by the people doing the delivering. When they have to handle LIVE merchandise they have a minimum charge. They set the fee and it is passed on to the buyer. If you buy multiple fish it makes the cost more reasonable but the cost itself is not negotiable due to the rates set by the shipping agents.

I think the handling of the fish is the important thing. i would like to think that they are well handled on their way to us.

Usually, the majority of the cost is in the overnight shipping inside the US. The breeders send fish over by the hundreds to lower the shipping into the US and the transshippers just charge what their cost is to ship to customers.

Thanks guys. I have been looking on Ultamitbetta and will be registering soon to check out the fenders and see what is out there. As for local pet stores, I only have a Wal-Mart and one independent pet store that is practically useless. I will have to see about Pet Smart in a neighboring town and see what they can do. Thanks again.
