Question about Marbles

Thinking about switching out a couple of my betta tanks to the flat and round marbles.

Question, when you feed frozen blood worms and they sink to the bottom, do they go between the marbles and can the fish get them?

Yup, they just dig for em, but mine usually suck them in one at a time so none hit the bottom. Piggies. lol

Dang, My betta wouldn't think of eating off the bottom of her tank.
Snooty little thing.
I guess she really is a Prissy fish. lol

I feed her 1 at a time.

Hey Minx

I think it's safe to say That they will dig for anything that makes it to the bottom...

A few of my boys have scared me by burying themselves in the marbles. It's like they can see under it so they have to get to the bottom.

same thing with my boy, (although I have smooth gravel, not marbles) if it takes too much effort to go after and sinks, he wont eat it.

Bloodworms sink to the bottom? I have never seen that, as it would require a betta that takes longer than 1/1000 of a second to scarf down whatever food is in sight.

we defrost a whole cube and squirt in a few with a ketchup bottle. they eat a couple on the way down, and the rest go the bottom.

the puffers and community tank get most of the cube, but a few go to each betta.

i did change out 3 betta tanks today to flat marbles, not sure yet if i like them or not. looks kinda busy. we'll see if the algae is better with this bottom.

I though my algae was worse when I had the flat marbles vs. now that I have smooth gravel...

What I do with ours is to put some room-temp. treated water in a small container (just for the bloodworms). Close the lid and shake it up to thaw them out fast. Then you can feed them using a pair of aquarium tongs (or even tweezers that have no sharp or pointed corners).
