i was cleaning my room today when i noticed that i had a perfect spot for a little 5 gallon tank would a corner tank or a hexagonal tank be good for a betta.

I would think either one as long as its 5 gallons, that would be a personal choice.... and personally I dont like hex tanks lol, they make everything look weird

I didn't care for the hex, it found it hard to clean and when I did it stressed my betta and it didn't give much swim surface.

It's a personal choice though, as you can see martinismommy loves them. lol

I have a mini bow 5 for my frog, I love it.

The hex was given to me with a goldfish in it (another story lol)
The filter was broke so my husband modified it to accomodate an HOB.

I had a 30g hex once and I couldnt stand it... you feel like your looking into a circus house of mirrors lol... luckily it sprung a leak anyway and the PetSmart I got it from let me exchange it for a 29g or I probably would have gone blind trying to see the fish in it

Yeah, funny how you can look at them and not see the fish....or if you look at the corner just right you see a disjointed fish. lol

I would personally go with corner/square/rectangle shaped tank over a hex. It will be just a Little bit easier to clean, but another factor is that water bends light. If you plan on observing your fish a lot, a large flat surface would be ideal because you can see everything in the tank without much distortion. With a hex tank, the water will be bending the image of everything in the tank. They still look very nice, but IMO, I think a square/rectangle shape is best. as you can see from this picture I found on google, it is a nice tank, but with the many sides, the view of the tank appears chopped.

and from this rectangle shaped tank you have a much larger observing area
