Moving Home

Today I brought my little betta a new tank. Currently he is in a 7gal. Today I got him a new 10gal. I won't move Samurai until it is cycled. But does anyone have advice on moving him. What should I move him with? Should I buy new decorations or would he like to see his old decorations in a scary new home? Thanks in advance for your advice. Jen

if u can, scoop him into a plastic sandwhich bag...or get a fish bag from your lfs...then acclimate him to his new tank
...the decorations are up to u...it might make him feel more comfortable at first, but if u want to switch them, then do it one at a time, once a week...that will allow him time to adjust to everything and will relieve some of the stress caused by a move

Decor is really up to you. My bettas have all adjusted really quickly to their new homes. Ranmaru explored his within minutes.

As far as moving him, you should slowly acclimate him, just like if he had just come home from the store. The water quality is going to be different (due to the fact that his old tank has been occupied, which changes the chemistry), and you don't want to shock him.
I am a fan of using a cup to transfer bettas, rather than a net (I worry about ripping the delicate fins because I'm a clutz), but many people around here use nets just fine.

They kind of like new things to explore and I change the decor around in our Betta tanks each week when doing the cleaning and water change. They are so curious.

Samurai is almost ready to go into his new home. I reckon couple more days and it will be cycled. I may keep Samurai's old decorations because he really is the biggest wimp in the world. Everything scares him. Is there anyway of making him more confident or do you reckon a bigger tank may do that.

Spending time talking to him and putting him where he can watch a lot of activity (with his 'safe' caves, etc.) is how we got Teddy Bear to go from timid to a total sponge for attention.
