I was gone for nearly a month, and my girl betta Candi actually missed me! So sweet. She was not eating well, and is now gobbling up fresh shrimp, freeze-dried bloodworms, her Cory Cat's food, live moths, etc. Still haven't coaxed her to eat the stuff that's really good for her: Atison's Betta Pro and Hikari Bio-Gold pellets.

She was very sad, according to the friend who has kept her. He said she missed me, and I doubted that. Now I have no doubt. She does not respond to him like she does to me. So it's true they bond with one or more humans.

She was acting weird for a few days after my return, and is now greeting me as before. It took a few days, almost like she didn't remember me. Now she's doing her typical Candi-dance! Tooooo sweet!

Yea, they can tell us apart and do miss us and our attention. When Stacy was out of town for almost a week, the Bettas that see her as their favorite person were missing her.
