A very Sad Day :(

I lost my Ripley yesterday,I had been watching her hang at the top of her tank a lot lately ,the first thing I did was check her water,amonia0 nitrite0 nitrate10 temp80,no problems there.
I went to do a scheduled water change and there she was lying on the bottom motionless, I thought at first she was sleeping ...But when I started pulling stuff out for rinsing and still she didn't move,I reached to touch her and Nothing...She was gone!I have no Idea what happened to her, Why am I having such a hard time with my girls?
And my 29 gallon sprung a leek!!!
On top of that My hubby and I have decided we have to try to Sell our Home,It is just getting too hard financially, were just making it, and his commute is killing him, between the time, tolls and gas prices.
So we have to let go of our 2 dogs,I currently have them on craigslist,I'v been contacted about the shelti but not the jack Russell,it's killing me but I know it's the best thing for them, as we plan on renting a apartment when we move and it wouldn't be fair to them
And hubby Say's I have to cut my Betta's down by half!!!I currently have 8 in 6 tanks,I know he's right...but how do I choose? I am soooo heartbroken...
Oh yea and to top it all off my daughter just found out she's pregnant again and my hubby's not really talking to her and wants her out asap!!!
So Sorry for the Long Thread...But I just needed to do some Venting!!!

I'm so sorry you lost your Ripley. You gave her loving home care, and for that we can be grateful.
RIP Ripley, swim with you Fish Lore buddies who have passed before you.

It seems like things hit us all at once doesn't it? You know we're here for you. Although you have some tough decisions ahead, you'll find the strength to pull you through.

Hi Shelly
I am so sorry to hear about Ripley. Our Betta girls hold a special place in our hearts for sure!
You know that saying... 'when it rains.. it pours'! Im so sorry for all that you have to deal with in front of you..
Its a tough decision to have to give up your furry friends, I feel so bad for you. And having to choose which Betta's to keep is an awful weight on anyones shoulders.
On a more positive note.. when one door closes, another opens up. And I hope that your intended move will bring some financial peace of mind. I know what it is to be house poor. We are struggling as well with our mortage and my husband has also thought about selling and then renting somewhere. Im holding out for better times ahead.. its GOT to get better right!
Take care of yourself.. and remember we are here for you!

Oh, I'm so sorry about all those tricky decisions! It's heartbreaking when you lose a Betta... But with all those things at once! Just take it slowly, make sure you make the right decisions and you should be fine. Maybe you could post some of your Betta to other FL members near you? That's a way to ensure they get the care they need, and you will hear about their every step! If you need to vent, then we'll try help you through it all. I'm so sorry for you!

Shelly,

I live in central NY -- near Syracuse -- I would be proud to foster any of your bettas if you can't find any homes for them closer or with your family.

Let me know.

Kelly

Shell

Very sorry to hear about the loss of Ripley and the potenital "adopting out" of your other pets. Loss is always so hard to deal with.

I've found throughout my life, that many of the things that seemed to be the worst possible thing to happen at the time, turned out to be the best things to ever happen in the long run. I hope this turns out to be the case for you.

Good luck and best wishes

Shelly, I am so sorry that you lost Ripley. I know the pain of losing those little mites, and it really crushes your heart.

You certainly are being tested , so many decsions to make. Your heart if full of love, and I know that things will work out as they should. Your husband will soften, your beautiful little dogs will find loving homes; as will your fish. Knowing they go to homes that will love them will help you deal.

Keep the faith, Shell, you have a full plate. They say the Lord never gives us more than we can handle, so know that you have the support of friends who care; and we are here for you to vent anytime.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I wish your family all good things. Be strong!! I also believe things happen for a reason, and I know you can look forward to much peace and happiness in the future.

Aw Shelly I'm so sorry you lost your Ripley.

I wish I lived in PA, I'd come take a betta or two and even a furbaby off your hands in a minute (even though my boyfriend would probably freak, 'more animals??' Hehe.) Just know that there are a lot of loving homes out there that will be happy to welcome your beloved companions so that you can be prepared for the journey ahead of you.
Congratulations on the grandbaby on the way. Children are a light in the world, no matter the situation they come in to.
Hang in there!!

Thank you everyone!!!Ripley was my favorite girl,I miss her so much.
I'm trying to make the best of it,I was thinking of letting go of my (2) 10 gallon divided tanks with the Betta's included That would be half of my Betta Babies,If anyone is near me and interested (that way I know the'll get the best care)
I have someone coming to see about my dog Shelton(Shetland sheepdog) this Saturday she's coming all the way from Albany NY and has kids.I also have the Realtor coming to take pictures of the house on Saturday as well I got someone to cover my shift at work so I can do a major cleaning (LOL)
My daughter and grandson are moving into the spare room for now, well see how that goes.I plan on having a moving sale next labor day weekend to get rid of some of the excess.
The one good thing is that if we can sell the house I will be closer to My Dad and Sister and her kids I already talked to my Boss and I can transfer to the store near where I plan on moving.
Thanks again everyone really do appreciate all your kind words.

Hang in there, Shelly,
I found a poem for you:

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When you're feeling low and the stress is high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When worries are getting you down a bit...
By all means pray--and don't you quit.
Success is failure turned inside out,
God's hidden gift in the clouds of doubt.
You never can tell how close you are--
It may be near when it seems so far.
So trust in the Lord when you're hardest hit...
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit!
