i knew this was going to happen
gram and uncle tim came over for mom's birthday on sunday, and i took gram upstairs and introduced her to mr. wiggles.
the next day, i go over to her house-and she wanted to talk to me about bettas! after a while, she decided that SHE wanted one so we went to PETCO, got her tank and everything...and then we saw the bettas. at first, she wanted this half-moon teal colored baby, but she balked a bit on the price, so we looked around for another. down near the bottom i saw HIM...a beautiful delta tail (in MUCH better condition than Mr Wiggles was when i got him). he was a soft pink, almost a rose color, and he had hints of purple and blue on his tail. he is also a butterfly, and gram absolutely fell in LOVE with him, and we brought him home. he's very happy in his nice big tank, which is warm and clean.
later, i was looking at him, and realized that he was a PERFECT delta tail!!!! his tailfin is perfectly triangular, and his colors have deepened over a two-day period. he eats right from our hands, and gram dotes on him shamelessly my mom's going to be getting one next!

But I'm a little worried... she got her tank and her new fish at the same time? Is it cycled?

That's great. he sounds beautiful.

Isn't it nice when someone sees how much personality they have in good size tank how they want one and you know they'll take care of it properly.

How exciting! McCoy has to be one happy Betta boy right about now...Tell Granny YIPPEE! She may want to do daily water changes while the tank cycles...I have done it on 4 tanks with great success!

Cancel those daily water changes if he has Bio-spira in the tank. He will do fine with no water changes for the first 7 days then have a 40 to 50% change and he will be fine. That gives the Bio-spira a chance to take a good hold in the filter.

He looks like a Delta version of Diablo, the fish in my signature only a little pinker. Very pretty. Tell your gram we congratulate her and I am a fan of Law and Order (all the types) too and very much like the name McCoy. Welcome to you McCoy!

Congratulations to your Granny! My grandma had a betta named Willy and she loved him to death! (not literally, lol). I hope that she is enjoying McCoy.
