Even though I shouldn't have ;)

My hubby let me get a betta, even though we will be moving in about 3 months. I know I probably should have waited, but I just couldn't keep leaving all those poor little guys and gals in the little cups at the stores. Besides we are already moving with fish, so what is one more Is it just me or does he look like he is missing his scales on his head to anyone else? Anyway here he is...no name yet...

hes a great looking man!! I cant imagine his colors when he finally settles and brightens up!! whether his scales are gone or not, nothing like the big 3 to spruce his handsome self up....vita chem, garlic , and fish protector...althoug lately ive been using stress coat instead of fish protector...my LFS isnt stocking it anymore congrats!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. I wanted to take about five different ones home, to bad I don't have the tanks. This one went in our 5 gallon hex that had our molly fry in it, which have gone to a good home. I was planning on getting him the garlic and vita chem, I do have the stress coat on hand though. I don't know what I was thinking not getting them while I was there.

He's very handsome...I love the last picture with his reflection. It's normal for bettas to not have scales on their heads (At least, it looks that way on most bettas).

Many bettas do not ever get scales on their heads. I believe they are bred this way. There are some who have heads which are pale almost fleshy colored and scaleless and look kind of like little old mend with bald heads and kind of cute! My first betta was this way and he looked so wise all the time. Others will be the kind with colored skin but no scales and then there are those with scales all over themselves. So if he is only missing scales on his head that is probably just the type of betta he is.

He is very handsome and a lovely color. I think his fins look very healthy and he looks like he is happy and seems to be a real little ham and not worried about the camera at all.

Glad to hear he had no problem eating for you but be careful not to overfeed.

Congratulations to the both of you. Him for convincing you that you needed him and you for taking the hint .

Congrats on your new boy!!! He is gorgeous! I have always wanted a Lavender betta. His body is a beautiful silver color. No wonder you just had to take him home Does the cute boy have a name yet?

He is lovely! He looks a bit like Karen's boy Dunn. So pretty! I love him. If I could have another Betta - that would be the colour I would choose.

Thanks everyone. He really is a ham, he followed me the whole time I had the camera out. Thanks for the info Chickadee.

Lavender is one of my favorite colors, so that is part of the reason he stood out to me.

No he doesn't have a name yet, I haven't thought of one that fits him yet.

Thank you! Dunn is a beautiful betta, so to compare my new little guy to him is really sweet. His body is more of a silvery blue. I have noticed some red spots along is back from his head to his tail, I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I guess time will tell. I'm off to the store today to get him some garlic and vitachem. I've been to petsmart and petco 3 times in the past 4 or 5 days

I need to find him some kind of shelter to go in also. All the extra ones we have have some sharper edges on them. Unless you guys think he will be ok without one, since he is the only one in the tank. Thanks for your help and kind words everyone. This is our first betta so we are new at them.

The red is normal....As he grows you will notice the tips of his tail will grow out red...I can already see the red starting.....It is really pretty...When I bought Dunn he was all lavendar with a gold body...A couple months later he had long red rays tipped with red...

This is what he looks like now....It's what I would expect your boy to do....
