Some people will say you can, but its really risky. Female bettas have quite a temper to and are happiest alone.

If they're already in a community tank at the lfs, then they should be fine. It really just depends on the fish. Just make sure you have a back up plan if it doesn't work out.

Female bettas prefer to live with their own. You can have more than 5 female bettas in one tank, it should be fine. They probably might go well with mollies too but it doesn't really work out everytime. Good luck!

Female Bettas can be kept in communitys - but I have never heard of a succesful attempt to mix several in the same tank. 1 female should be fine.

Female bettas can be more territorial than males. It would be highly unlikely to succeed and I'd guess on dead/injured fish and/or a very stressed female betta.

What size is your tank?
In 20g+ I would say one female depending on her temperament may work. Again depending on the Betta. I have had 2 females in a 42g community tank...they were fine. Yet I had 20g sorority with 4 female Betta by 2 months there was one left standing, Holly. She stressed the others to death by being bossy. She wasn't a nipper just a chaser.
You could try it, but have a tank ready for her in case she is a bully.

I just now attempted to put my female Cambodian in my community tank.

I have cherry barbs, neons and a bristlenose pleco in there.

I was so worried about what SHE would do them, I never stopped to think what they might do to her.

She seemed very pleased with her new huge home, was swimming around quite happily and had no ill will towards anyone. Then the male cherry barbs decided that since she's red, she's a female cherry. They started chasing her, and of course she had no clue why. Poor thing, I had to remove her after 5 minutes.

So, if you want to put a single female in a community tank, make sure it's of a colour that won't leave any chance of mistaken identity.

I think if my girlie were blue or green there would be no problem.

We have our Female betta in our 29gal community.. She was in a 10 gal divided with Mr Betta, but when we got Mr Betta 2 she had to be moved.. She is fine with all the other fish (tetra,Siamese algae, ghost shrimp). I did try to put our Guppy in there but she didnt like him and chased him away so he came out. Just try not to put one in with any other fish with flowy tails!

You should never do a 100% water change - it damages and destroys the bacteria colonys you worked so hard to create in the nitrogen cycle as well as really stressing the fish! Weekly water changes are the answer.
