About Finrot

I was wondering what some of the signs are that a betta is starting to recover from finrot- besides obvious fin regrowth. As most of you know four of my bettas have finrot at the moment, and I have been treating them the best I can. Two of them are starting to show some white growth at the edges of their fins. Does this mean that they are healing? It is hard to tell if their fins are getting longer since I look at them multiple times a day. Can finrot be fatal? I am starting to get worried because I feel like they should be getting better faster.

My betta is also recovering from finrot. He's a lot more active now, and he's not brushing up against his plants like he did when he was sick. He also is starting to get "nubs" at the end of his fins - they're beginning to re-grow.

What do the "nubs" look like?

They're where the - what's a good word - "lines" come down his fins. They're starting to grow back, I'm expecting the fleshy part in between to begin growing back soon. It's slow coming, but it's happening. Considering that it seemed like the finrot itself happened so fast.

It is so frustrating that finrot happens almost overnight and then it takes soooo long to heal!

I know. There are a few posts about using fresh garlic to help cure finrot. Maybe you could look that up - it may help speed up the process.

Thanks. I am already using garlic along with many other things and regular water changes.

The white growth does indicate regrowth. Finrot can reoccur, but doesn't always. I think keeping the water extra clean along with vita-chem, garlic guard and fish protector every day or 2 can help reduce the chance of it coming back, as well as treating for both types of fin rot at the same time thanks to Rid-Fungus.
