Amanda, I'm originally from dutchess county NY wappingers falls/beacon area...A 10 gallon divided is a nice compromise (I have 2)That way you don't have to give up anyone And lots of choices for your new 55 gallon Is there any reason you don't want to keep them in there 5 gallon ?I'm looking into getting a couple for some of my girls.

The only tetras that work with bettas are Cardinals. I am sorry but the rest either do not work with the betta because of the betta or because of them. You will need a large school of them and then a lot of hiding places and caves and plants no matter what you put him in there with as this is not a community fish you are putting in there. Bettas are solitary creatures and do not know how to relate to other fish and they need places to get away from him and he from them. This is the only way it has a chance of working and even then it may not work so always have a back up plan if it does not.

I just rather have one larger tank, rather than many small ones. I loved haveing 5 gallons. They're so easy to maintain & easily decorated. My bettas loved having a bigger tank, so that's why I'm going to put them in the 10 gallon. They're so spoiled!

You can never spoil a Betta too much.. at least that's how our Bettas feel.

I traded one of my 5 gallons to someone with a 10 gal. who's going to a college dorm. So this weekend I should be setting that up for the boys.

They're in the 10 gal. now, and they're very happy. I discovered that my one betta, Valient - the betta housed with the pleco - gets VERY depressed when in the same tank with his new friend. Any ideas of what I could house with him once I love the pleco into the 55 gal.?

Otos would be good, since they are 'mini plecos', or Pitbull plecos if you can find them.
