Betta Meds help?

Ok, being the technical idiot that i am, can sombody please help me with some meds, etc questions.

i noticed the beginnings of some black edges on the fins of two of my bettas and some little red spots. from some of the other posts i read, i saw to treat this with fungus rid.

so today, per the instructions we did a 25% water change and put in those meds.

question 1: do i give them this again or is it a one shot deal (the bottle doesn't say)

question 2: i got my MIRACLE 3 PACK today for all betta owners. garlic guard, fish protector and vita chem. should i put this in now, or wait, or how do i use this stuff so i can have healthy miracle beautiful babies.

Jacqi.....Can you post a photo? Also, make sure and remove the carbon from the filter before adding the meds.....You'll need some filter sponge or like Shawnie suggested a while back just a sponge in the filter.....

IF you are going to medicate, yes remove the filter..otherwise it takes out all the meds you just spent your money on...

I havent ever medicated any of my betta's except for the "miracle 3" as I call it...(wonder who taught me this )
1. fish protector
2. vita chem
3. garlic pieces (as my LFS NEVER carries garlic guard)

but thats my situations not anyone elses....

does the carbon filter have to be out for the vitamins too?
how about for the fish protector stuff?

can i give these to my goldfish too? i would like to strengthen them up, seeing as i've lost all my favorite gold fish in the last two months.

they're always fine, the water parameters are fine, then
poof! one day they're floating funny, next day or two they're dead.

yep we took the carbon out.

i can't believe the stupid bottle doesn't say how often to give the fungus rid.

So sorry to be so late. You need to start it all now. Fish Protector and Vitachem are just supplements not medications as it the garlic so you do not have to remove the carbon for them. Yes start them now. You are able to use these on any freshwater fish, goldfish included. All fish are supposed to like garlic and it is an appetite stimulant and immune system builder. Fish Protector is a supplement and calming agent for the fish but not a med. Vitachem is vitamins only but good for immune system boost and regeneration of tissue. They should get vitamins every day. Rid Fungus is Dave's territory really as I have never been able to find it but I would use it with every water change and with every water addition at least. Usually with the fungal meds I have had experience with they are added like every 3 to 4 days but they need a 25% water change in between and those you need to remove the carbon part of the filter for. Then when they have had 2 sessions of the 3 or 4 days of meds with the fungal med they get the carbon put back in the filter after another 25% water change. I would imagine Rid Fungus is not a whole lot different. If you feel a bit queasy using it without direction it would be my recommendation to get Fungus Clear Tank Buddies from Jungle Labs and use them instead. They are fizzy tablet that turn the water and everything else green but they work. You use one per 10 gallons or 1/2 per 5 gallons and just drop it in the water and leave it for 4 days and then do a 25% water change and drop in another dose and leave ror 4 days and then do another 25% water change and put the carbon back and while all this is going on just do the daily Vitachem, Fish Protector, and Garlic. Then when the last of the Tank Buddies is out of the tank you continue with the other 3 until they are all back to normal.

When we use the Rid-Fungus, we add it daily during the entire treatment time.
