Riley! Yes, I've done it again



Riley is my little walmart rescue. I ventured into the fish department to get flakes for my goldfish and saw that they had just re-stocked their bettas There were 56 cups there and the water was all filthy. Riley really just cought my eye and I couldn't bring myself to leave him there to die.

He's in a 5 gallon quarentine tank now but eventually he'll get the fifth compartment of the 20 gallon divided. He's extremely shy and hides in his little ship decoration if I'm around his tank too much. I'm going to go buy a lot more silk plants for him today so he'll feel less exposed. His tail fin just sort of ends abruptly, so I think he's had fin rot problems. I've added vita-chem and garlic guard to his water so hopefully his tail will regrow.








He hides in his ship then peeks his little head out to see if it's safe to come out and swim.

He is a Dalmation!!!! And we all know how I love Dalmations!!!! and no I think his tail edges look healthy. There do not seem to be fraying or any signs of fungus on them but he may just be genetically made to have a tail that is formed that way. He is beautiful and I think stunning and I love that coloration. You got yourself quite a find and I hope that he does well.

Thank you for quarantining him and for doing the wonderful thing in giving him a good home. He looks good and he looks happy which is even better. Congratulations to you both.

Thanks for all the compliments, everyone. Riley is such a cute little bugger and I'm so glad I chose him (or he chose me, depending on how you look at it!)

Riley is really starting to come out of his shell. I've added a bunch of silk plants so he feels more comfortable and loves swimming through his mini forest. He's still the shyest of my bettas but he's started swimming out of his plants when he sees me and I'm confident that he'll warm up to me even more eventually since Othello was terribly shy at first too.

All the other boys (and Kita ) are doing great. Still healthy, happy and - in Kita's case - slightly insane! She is the most hyper betta I've ever seen!

Othello's tail still has the tear in it, but it looks like it might be healing up a little now.

I love his dalmatian spots - I had never seen a dalmatian in person before! That's strange that his tail might naturally be short like that. I don't really care though, since I think he's cute even with a short tail. I'm keeping up the garlic guard and vita-chem just in case as it will help against any unseen problems as well.
