Sun Ce not doing well

This isn't looking good.
Sun Ce is staying either on the bottom of the tank or draped over plants almost all the time. I can barely get him to eat.
He has not been exposed to anything from a pet store for over four months, so I don't think that it could be the iridovirus. I just did an extra water change.
I can't find the second bottle for the nitrate tests, but ammonia and nitrite are zero.
The only oddity about the tank is that it is growing a type of algae that looks like a brillo pad. It's growing right under one of the two lights, so I'm guessing it's an excess of light that's causing that.
I'll be getting some freeze-dried daphnia tonight. He's such a tiny little guy that it's kind of difficult to tell if he's swollen. In addition, he has been getting OmegaOne betta food and vitachem.

It sounds like internal parasites.

So what would you suggest for parasites? He's gotten much worse over the day, and I'm pretty sure that the little guy isn't going to live very long. I'm going to put him in a Q-tank with an extremely lowered level so he can get to the surface. At this point, medication seems necessary to even give him a chance.

I usually treat parasites with Parasite Clear.

Oh thank goodness. I went to the store before hearing back from you and that's what I ended up getting. Unfortunately, they don't carry daphnia, so I'm still on the hunt for that.

Sorry to hear about your little guy.

When my female had parasites, it was very clear since she had very long stringy white poops, but her activity level and appetite never changed.

I hope he feels better soon!

There was nothing different about his poo (at least that I noticed). Over the weekend, he was a little more lazy than normal, but I didn't think too much of it. Today, he started out on the bottom of the tank. I did a water change at around noon, and he rapidly degenerated from there. I just had to lift him up to put him on the plants that I put in the Q-tank so that he could breathe.

He might like to float in a cup with some tank water in it.

I've thought about that, and if he's both still alive and on the floor of the Q-tank tomorrow morning, I may do so. For now, he's arranged himself to be able to breathe without moving, so I think I'm going to leave him there.

Thinking about it, I wonder if he's been sick for a week or more and just hasn't been showing it too much.

Yea, if he's got a good spot, then he'll be less stressed.

I had a very sick betta a couple of weeks ago that was to weak to swim up and breath and he tried to drape himself over the thermometer...I had to push it down a 1/4 inch so he could get on it but then he could breath easier...he had velvet. Today he is feisty and happy. Good luck.
