Say hello to my new little boy (to be!)
I'm so happy and excited! Me and my Dad just bidded on this little sweety:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOP-QUALITY-RT...d=p3286.c0.m14
How cool does he look? According to the seller, he is placid, which fits right in to my plan of adding a trio of Dwarf corys to the tank he is to go in!
Also, on a more sinister note... Dad checked out a little guide written by the seller of that boy. At the bottom was a link to 'UK Betta Forum', and he said "and that might be a good place to buy Bettas...". Are you catching on? I think he might mean I'm getting more?! It acctualy appears to be a pretty good site.
Here's to my new Betta's safe homecoming! And I'm sure he's mine this time - last time I was about to get one, he was bought in the 5 minutes I went away to tell my mum who was at the other end of the garden centre!

Well, we haven't acctualy bidded yet - we're using this thing called 'Snipe' that puts your bid in at the last 7 seconds, so the high bidder thinks they've won, but before they can react Snipe bids for us! It's a cool thing, dad uses it all the time.

OK, here's the story: So, before I went to bed, I ran donstairs to ask dad how the Betta was. He was in the living room, with his laptop as usual. At this point, bidder 2 had raised him to £10.50 ($21.00), and it was an hour and 20 minutes until he was sold. As I walked out of the room, I sneakily picked up the internet tablet, and went into the kitchen to get myself a drink. Went upstairs with the drink, and sat down on my bed. (For all those wondering, and internet tablet is a small touch screen device which you use to browse the internet) I quickly found the page Navajo was on (That's the name at the top of my Betta names list at the moment) and watched. 10 minutes of hitting refresh button revealed nothing. So, I picked up my new Houseplant book (Aquatic gardening started to grow out of the hood!) and refreshed the page every 10 minutes. At this point, bidder 2 placed a secret bid. Nothing happened, until the last 7 seconds, when bidder 3 placed a bid of £12.50. However, 7 seconds later... Bidder 2's secret bid was revealed to be £22! ($44!) I would have bought him for that much, but my dad says I AM NOT BUYING A FISH FOR £20! Aw great... Now this is the second time I've missed a really lovely Betta boy, I really am going to have to be third time lucky! Anyhow, I'm sure this Betta is going to a good home - no newbie buys a Betta for £20. Gutted.
I just checked what Bettas are hanging around on eBay today - a Black orchid lace female is about it. Oh, hang on, I was wrong. That seller has several assorted steel blues (A nice CT acctualy). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UK-BRED-PK-MAL...QQcmdZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHEAP-TO-CLEAR...QQcmdZViewItem
I like the Plakat a bit, but I could do with some more pics from the seller. I guess they tend t be a bit more aggresive than other Betta, so maybe not... I might email him about it. I do love HM PK's. However, it does say he's getting more Betta in stock. I might have to email him about what other Betta he's getting soon. Mind, it looks like I have to get dad's help because it requires a eBay login. I have the email, just not the login!

I've just found a link to the guy who got 'my' Betta's site: http://www.bramsbettas.com
Well, maybe I might be getting one of that boy's offspring? Either way, I am at peace that the Betta is going to a caring home.

I wonder how long that'll take? Anyhow, I've recently discovered the guy who bought the Betta I wanted also uses a forum I use. I think he bought a female who looks a lot like that male as well, so maybe I might get some of the offspring? I know he's a breeder. Mind you, I think I'll wait until the seller of the Betta I wanted gets some more stock in this week before making any decisions.

Problem with aquabid is getting the Betta to the UK. For that Betta I wanted to buy, the postage accounted for almost half of the total fish cost. Now, that was from the UK to the UK. US to UK is a big journey over sea, and to make matters worse there is this difficult thing where the fish has to travel with a special certificate, and then be examined at a special point where the animal must be dropped off (And you have to pay for that), then finally it goes to you. A bit much for a fish, and a wallet, eh? I wish I could use aquabid - they have such lovely Betta on there - and more than 3 to choose from!
I've just found a lovely male: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/blue-mustard-g...d=p3286.c0.m14
Well, I guess there's no harm in bidding!

He's beautiful, Hatchet, good luck.
Is there a reason you don't just go to the store to find your special guy?
