I like the concept if the tank was larger. The photo makes it appear much larger than it really is. The measurements come out to be a 17g tank that is 36 inches long, 10.5 inches high, and 12 inches deep.
The height is ok.. for bettas. But to cramp six compartments into a 3 foot tank, and taking into consideration the five dividers, those Bettas only have about 5.5 or so inches of length to swim around in.
I would love to see the same set up in 4 foot length tank! Now that would be nice~
Other than the measurements.. it sure looks good!

That's interesting, but I agree with Kate. With more depth than width, a betta would be upset in a tank like that. Still, the idea is awesome. Do it either with a bigger tank or just do fewer sections.

What you could do, if custom-building a tank like that is do the same thing, but with a more shallow tank that's about twice as deep.

"Shallow tank that's twice as deep "
I think I know what you meant (depth being from front to back as opposed to the normal "depth" when we think of water?) but it's still funny.
And that's exactly what I was thinking. Of course, it takes up more of a footprint, so space could be an issue.

It would help if he wasn't so ... ambitious... Instead of 6 bettas he could have done 4 or something like that, you know?
Still a cool idea.

it would be cool to take like a 70g tank and do it, they are from front to back bigger, and longer... which would give the surface area a larger area for the fish.. then measure each area out to equal out about 5 gallons to 7g per fish... that would be a cool tank!
I love the concept!

I was hoping to buy a 75g divided in 15, 5gs but the guy sold it before I had chance to even get to see it.

that bites! keep looking, the deal will come! just like we found the 58g oceanic tank we are getting tomm I know we were wanting the 90g but we really didn't need that big of a tank in a doublewide, the floors aren't always as sturdy as they should be. It still gives me 7 tanks, and I will get a big tank when we build a house. At least I can split the species up of cichilds.
I might still be able to scrunge up another betta tank still too... my boys are starting to get acustomed to Lucas, so I think I will get them a betta tank for their room (a 10g and split it so they can each have a betta). I never thought of the bigger tank w/ the dividers until I saw all the bettas on here.
